Sage Project Consultants is seeking candidates for multiple Project Support positions to fulfill the following responsibilities. Ideal candidates include individuals with commensurate professional experience looking for flexible, part-time employment. Ideal candidates may also include a graduate student (or experienced undergraduate) looking to build experience in the behavioral health continuum of care from a project coordination and data analytics perspective.
Sage is looking to fill these roles either as employees or as independent contractors in negotiation with the candidate.
- Project coordination and support. Provide assistance to the Project Manager or Project Director in coordinating several large statewide projects, including behavioral health related grant activities in partnership with the South Dakota Department of Social Services. Will gain experience in grant management, technical writing, project management strategies, and will have opportunity to work with multiple contracted partners working on this large-scale effort.
- Communication support. Assist in preparing materials to communicate status updates on projects (e.g. infographics, summary reports, simple websites) using standard software (e.g. PowerPoint, Word). Experience with Canva or Adobe InDesign is desired but not required. Coordinate communication with partnering providers (e.g., treatment agencies) on behalf of the team in the area of data compliance and quality assurance.
- Analyze and summarize key findings (outcomes and impacts) from primary data sources in support of client projects. Utilize that data as well as supporting secondary data to create custom graphs and charts. Create infographics and assist in writing formative reports based on survey data.
- Analyze data in support of the company’s projects, including dashboard design, data visualization, and interpretation of findings. Experience in Excel is required as a foundation for this work; additional experience or awareness of PowerBI or analytical software is preferred.
- Logistics. Scheduling meetings in support of projects. Sending calendar invites. Setting up meeting room logistics. Attend client meetings with Sage owners to gain experience on consultant/client relationships. Assist with facilitation and transcription.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
The position is based out of the Vermillion, SD SAGE office and will be supervised by Nick Oyen, owner/partner. Office hours are generally Monday through Thursday, 8:30 – 4:30 and Friday 8:30 to Noon. This position will primarily work remotely (work from home); however, work in the Vermillion office will be expected at a regular frequency to be determined with the candidate. A minimum of one working day a week could be expected. Work may also be accomplished on site at a client’s location (typically Sioux Falls).
Hours are flexible and can be adjusted based on a candidate’s availability.
Wage is negotiable based on experience. Travel will be minimal if and as needed, and associated expenses will be reimbursed if travel is agreed to and needed. Employees must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
Minimum Requirements and Education
High school diploma or GED is required. Academic training in health sciences, business, or related fields is preferred, however commensurate professional experience will be considered as well.

- Data visualization skills, using common platforms (e.g. Excel with preference for familiarity with PowerBI).
- Strong written communication skills to assist with drafting documents, reports, and briefs in support of projects.
- High comfort level with phone and/or web-based (e.g. Zoom) meetings and dialogue.
- Research skills leveraging web-based resources to support the needs of specific projects.
