Advanced Registration Required! This workshop is designed for children and teenagers aged 8-18. Ages 8-12: 10:00 am - 11:00 am: (Limit 20 participants) 'Telling Stories with our Bodies,' taught by Mimsi Janis (Ages 8-12 only. In this workshop students will use their bodies to explore gestures and images, and use them to improvise original stories. Students will learn basic components of visual storytelling and apply them in small group performances.) 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm: (Limit 20 participants) 'Acting Basics!' taught by Alyssa Anderson (Ages 8-12 only. This workshop will focus on the four main tools of acting: Concentration/Observation/Memorization/Imagination. Using these four points students will do exercises that help us understand what these tools are and how to utilize them properly when we're acting.) 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm: (Limit 20 participants) 'Shakespearean Costumes and Crafts,' taught by Caitlin Quinn (Ages 8-12 only. Learn about the fashion and theatrical costumes of Shakespeare's England. Participants will also make and decorate their own Elizabethan coin purse.) Ages 13-18: 10:00 am - 11:00 am: (Limit 20 participants) 'Ensemble Acting,' taught by Mike Lee (Ages 13-18 only. Building upon the work of Augusto Baol, Bob Hobbs & Jerzy Grotowski, performers will be challenged to become more wholly present actors & ensemble members through a series of simple exercises designed to bring each student a sense of presence and ownership of their space.) 1:15 pm - 2:15 pm: (Limit 20 participants) 'Shakespearean Costume and Crafts,' taught by Caitlin Quinn (Ages 13-18 only. Learn about the fashion and theatrical costumes of Shakespeare's England. Participants will also make and decorate their own Elizabethan hat.) 2:30 - 3:30 pm: (Limit 20 participants) 'Approaching the Shakespearean Soliloquy,' taught by Katie Tuminelly (Ages 13-18 only. This workshop will be a crash course in approaching the Shakespearean soliloquy. From iambic pentameter and upholding line endings, this workshop will focus on how to take Shakespeare's words from the page to words spoken out loud.)
