Ribs, Rods & Rock n' Roll

Description

Ribs, Rods & Rock n' Roll is a community wide event that started as a way to celebrate the end of the harvest by the forefathers of the community.  Every year after the completion of the harvest, the community would celebrate by barbequing ribs over hand-dug pits below the bluff along the banks of the Vermillion river. The feast was cooked using corn cobs. The entire Vermillion community was welcome. 

The Modern day event has a KCBS sponsored BBQ cookoff, with ~30 teams from across the Midwest. There are also many local teams that carry on the BBQ tradition. The event features many activities for the entire community, including a kids' activity area, Cornhole tourney, 5K USMC Color run, a car show, and vendors.
