Swedish Quintet Jaerv to perform at the National Music Museum NMM Live! will feature the award-winning Swedish quintet, Jaerv, at noon on Friday, June 24 ahead of their planned performances at 152nd Annual Midsummer at Dalesburg Festival. The concert will be held in the National Music Museum’s Janet L. Wanzek Performance Hall in Vermillion, SD. Admission is free. Thanks to a partnership with the Dalesburg Festival committee, the award-winning Swedish quintet will present a sneak peek of their extroverted folk music performances for the NMM. Rooted in different musical traditions, Jaerv offers a varied stage performance where vocal, five-voiced tunes blend with energetic dances and free improvisations. Jaerv is internationally recognized and has toured the U.S., Japan, Spain, Scotland, Ireland, Finland, and Norway, among other countries. They have received various awards and recognition from the Royal Academy of Music, the Swedish Arts Council and the American-Swedish Foundation. Their discography includes three full length albums and several singles and collaborations, featuring the Japanese Koto-master Hiroe Morikawa, the American duo The OK Factor, award-winning choir Vocal Art Ensemble and the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra. Members of Jaerv include: Joel Hagen: flute, whistles, soprano saxophone, vocals Anders Bergsten: double bass, nyckelharpa, vocals Harald Nilsson: guitars, vocals Markus Gustavsson: fiddle, lead vocals Tobias Hedlund: percussion, pump organ, vocals NMM Live! is brought to you, in part, by the American Scandinavian Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee, the University of South Dakota Student Government Association, and by the South Dakota Arts Council.
