Theodore Wiprud’s Concerto for Violin no. 2, which will see its world premiere at the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra (SDSO)’s January 25th concert “Beats & Beethoven,” contemplates how we are coping with the Earth's changing climate and humanity's ingenuity and compassion for each other and our planet. This piece was developed in collaboration with The ClimateMusic Project, a nonprofit, nonpartisan cooperative bringing together renowned scientists and world-class musicians to create musical and visual experiences guided by the scientific data on climate change. Moderated by Meghann Jarchow (Professor and Chair of the Department of Sustainability & Environment at USD) this panel of speakers will explore how the fields of art and science can work together to envision solutions to climate change.
