Join us at the library for a special visit from the author of Frog Creek Road, Dr. Normal Wilson! Wilson’s book of poetry draws us into the wonder of nature, whether it’s the startling appearance of an unexpected animal or the worked-for observation of animals oblivious to human presence. Follow the seasonal changes from winter through autumn during a thirty-six year period during the author’s life with her family, friends, and the flora and fauna surrounding her home on a prairie bluff in Vermillion, South Dakota. Norma will be signing copies and reading passages from her new book. This event is free and open to the public! Norma Wilson’s books include Wild Iris (1978), One-Room Country School: South Dakota Stories with co-editor Charles Woodard (1998), The Nature of Native American Poetry (2001), Under the Rainbow: Poems from Mojácar (2012), Memory, Echo, Words (2014), Rivers, Wings & Sky (2016) with visual artist Nancy Losacker, and Frog Creek Road (2019). Her new book of poetry is a seasonal chronicle of 36 years with her family, friends and the flora and fauna surrounding her prairie bluff home. After 27 years of teaching she retired as University of South Dakota English Professor Emerita in 2005. She and her husband Jerry Wilson live and write in a geo-solar house they built in 1982 in rural Vermillion. They are the parents of two adult children, Walter Clark Wilson and Laura Grace Wilson. https://sites.google.com/a/usd.edu/norma-c-wilson/
