Vermillion High School students will be presenting a shortened version of Sophocles’ play Antigone adapted by David Feldshuh on Friday January 19th at the Thomas H. Craig Center for Performing Arts. This Greek drama follows the play’s protagonist, Antigone, in her quest to honor the Gods and give her brother a dignified burial. It seeks to answer the dramatic questions, are there times when civil disobedience is justified, and how can excessive pride lead to the misuse of power?
This 45 min. production will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on the Vermillion High School stage. It is free and open to the public. After Friday’s performance, the 36-student cast and crew will take the show on the road to the Region IA, South Dakota High School Activities Association’s One-Act Play contest held at Dakota Valley High School on Tuesday January 23rd at 10:30 a.m.
