By Tennessee Williams, directed by Oliver Mayes
Late in his career, Tennessee Williams, one of America’s greatest playwrights, revisited some of his earlier works. This is his revised and, according to Williams, definitive version of his earlier play "Summer and Smoke." Set in Mississippi in the early twentieth century, the repressed minister’s daughter Alma Winemiller tries to understand and connect with her free-spirited neighbor, John Buchanan Jr. Williams blends humor and pathos, realism and poetry, hope and regret in this achingly beautiful play. Performed on the Wayne S. Knutson Main Stage.
